RAIL enthusiasts descended on a museum at the weekend for its annual Diesel Gala.
An estimated 4,000 people visited the two-day event at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum in Shildon.
Three guest locomotives joined the museum’s three in-house locomotives to operate from sidings at the venue.
The star attraction was the Deltic Royal Scots Grey 55022 - the first production Deltic from 1961, which arrived at the museum last Thursday from Lancashire, picking another two up from York en route.
Museum manager George Muirhead said: "We have had a very successful weekend and retained the success of last year’s event."
The guest locomotives will remain at the museum until Wednesday morning.
Opening hours are 10am to 5pm daily.
