THIEVES who broke into a parked sports car made off with a haul of jewellery worth £150,000.
The raiders smashed the window of the green BMW X5 as it was parked behind a jeweller’s shop in Gillygate, York.
The car belonged to a sales rep who was trying to sell necklaces, bracelets and other pieces to the business.
The thieves were believed not to be English and were all wearing dark clothes, according to police.
The stolen jewellery was taken away in a large black bag on wheels, a briefcase and a light green bag which contained silver and gold chains.
"£150,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from a car belonging to a sales rep," said a police spokesman.
"It appears the owner of the BMW, which the property was stolen from, was going in to shop to sell the property."
The theft took place behind R H Taylor Jewellers last Tuesday at about 3pm.
