A FORMER miner turned artist is to give a library lecture about his experiences down the pit.
Brian Brown is to give a first hand account of his working life at Clayport Library, in Durham City, on Thursday, April 30.
Mr Brown is now a professional artist who sells his work throughout the UK and abroad, An exhibition of his work called The Colliery Lads will also be on show in Clayport Library throughout May to help celebrate Local History Month.
It will include more than 15 mining scenes displayed in both the reference and lending areas of the library.
The talk - It Shouldn’t Happen Down a Mine - takes place at 7.15pm. Admission is free, but places should be booked with Clayport Library on 0191 386 4003 or email julie.slater@durham.gov.uk.
