TWO men are due to appear in court tomorrow following the stabbing of a teenager left fighting for his life in hospital.
Cleveland police officers have stepped up their presence on the streets of Pallister Park in Middlesbrough after an 18-year-old local man was attacked on Cumnor Walk in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He was taken to the Freeman Hospital where his condition was initially described as critical after suffering a single stab wound to his abdomen.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said this morning the man is now stable but will remain at the Newcastle hospital.
Another man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, but released after wounds to his head were stitched.
A 63-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, both local to the area will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court tomorrow, charged with offences of wounding.
Detective Inspector Paul Richardson, who is leading the investigation, said anti-social behaviour prompted the assault.
"This serious incident arose out of an incident of anti-social behaviour and very nearly cost the life of one of those injured," he said.
Additional police patrols have been deployed and the local neighbourhood policing team will be working closely with the local community to ensure there are no repercussions from the incident.
Anyone with additional information about the original incident which sparked the attack or any concerns of on-going anti-social behaviour are asked to contact Cleveland Police on 01642-326326.
