A MAN who jumped off the Tyne Bridge into the River Tyne is fighting for his life in hospital.
Fire crews were called to Tyne Bridge, in Newcastle, at 7.25pm on Friday evening following reports of somebody threatening to jump into the river.
After the man threw himself off the bridge, fire teams rushed to the Quayside where crew entered the river and two men pulled him onto the riverside.
He was given first aid by ambulance crew and fire personnel before he was taken to Newcastle General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
