FOUR people have been taken to hospital following a road traffic accident between a car and a bus.
The accident happened on South Crescent, Fencehouses, at about 6.30pm this evening.
Fire engines from both Tyne and Wear and County Durham attended the scene following reports that people were trapped in the wreckage.
Four adults - two male and two female - were cut free from the vehicles and taken by ambulance to Sunderland General Hospital. The extent of their injuries are not known.
