SERVICE veterans are being invited to apply for badges recognising their contribution to the nation.
Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman is holding a ceremony on May 29 when men and women who have served in the forces will be presented with Veterans Badges by Kevan Jones, the MP for North Durham and the government’s Minister for Veterans.
Ms Goodman said: "The veterans who have served this country have given so much to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. I am proud of the contribution that our Armed Forces have made over so many years and continue to make to bring peace and stability.
"We owe a lot to them and it is only right that we remember their contribution through this event."
People can apply if the served in the UK Army, Navy or Air Force or sailed on a merchant navy vessel that was involved in a military operation. Contact the constituency office on 01388-603075 or write to Helen Goodman MP, 1 Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, DL14 6EN.
