LAST-minute rehearsals are under way for the latest show at an independent theatre.
Durham Dramatic Society will present Map of the Heart, by William Nicholson, at the City Theatre, on Back Silver Street, Fowler’s Yard, Durham, from Sunday, April 26, until Saturday, May 2.
The play, from the author of Shadowlands, explores the effects on family life when the man of the house goes to work in the Sudan and is taken hostage.
Albie Steadman is played by John McKinnell, with Lesley Anderson as Ruth Steadman and Amy Openshaw as Sally Steadman. The producer is Kate Lawrie.
Evening performances start at 7.30pm. A Sunday matinee starts at 2.30pm.
Tickets are priced £6, with concessions available on Sunday and Monday at £5.50.
To book, call the Durham tourist information office on 0191-384-7641.
The City Theatre is one of the smallest in the country, with just 71 seats. Last year, it underwent a £10,000 refurbishment, with the seats re-covered, new carpet laid and a new stage curtain installed.
