DARLINGTON stunt driver Paul Swift has just returned from filming an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most cars simultaneously doughnutting.
Doughnutting requires spinning a car on the spot around its own axis and is often performed by racing drivers after a victory.
Mr Swift was invited by the Guinness World Records programme to help former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq learn the technique in order for her to take part in the record attempt. Mr Swift said: “Konnie was a natural – she picked up the technique very quickly and after only a small amount of training I was happy that she was good enough to perform the stunt without me in the car.
“This was a great relief to me, as having never set an official Guinness World Record before I really wanted the opportunity to take part in the record attempt myself in my own car.”
To find out if Paul and Konnie succeeded in their world record attempt, watch the Guinness World Records programme on Sky 1 on Sunday, May 3, at 6pm.
