A SWIMMING club is hoping to move into a different league, following a gala success.
Durham City Amateur Swimming and Water Polo Club triumphed in the latest contest in Northumberland and Durham District Junior League division two, which was held at Freeman’s Quay leisure centre, in Durham.
The success means the club are top of the division and well placed to be promoted into division one for the 2010 series.
Dave Low, the club’s assistant coach, said: "I am extremely proud of our swimmers.
"We recently changed the entire structure of the club and increased our focus on competitive swimming.
"The junior league result is testament to this change and the hard work of the coaches, the parents and most importantly the swimmers.
"We are really looking forward to the final and we have a real chance of achieving promotion."
