FIREFIGHTERS are celebrating after shattering their fund-raising target.
The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service had hoped to raise £10,000 over the past year.
But in the end the total they reached for the Fire Fighters Charity was more that £40,000.
Fund-raising events included a carol concert, football tournament, a sponsored bike ride and taking part in the New York marathon among many others.
The Fire Fighters Charity Chairman for North Yorkshire, Chris Anderson, said: "This is an excellent achievement and I would like to thank all members of staff who have supported the charity and helped raise this money."
The Fire Fighters Charity supports fire fighters during their times of need, and assists over 13,500 individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.
It costs over £9m every year to run the charity. For more information visit www.firefighterscharity.org.uk
