TRADERS from around Bishop Auckland have united to help the town centre through the credit crunch.
The group, set-up with the Bishop Auckland Town Centre Forum, was organised by town centre manager Steve McCormick for store managers to meet up and discuss issues affecting the town.
Managers from Boots, Greenwoods, Marks and Spencer, the Newgate Centre, Trimmers Hairdressers, Westgate Stores and Wilson Veterinary Group attended the first meeting this week.
The agenda included current trading conditions, development of marketing material, and seasonal campaigns.
Mr McCormick said: "There has been great enthusiasm amongst traders who feel there is a need for a group to discuss issues and the way forward for the town centre."
The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 10am in the Town Centre Manager’s office at Old Bank Chambers on the Market Place.
