BISHOP AUCKLAND MP Helen Goodman will host a climate change fair in Barnard Castle next month.
The event on Saturday, May 16, will enable local companies and organisations to showcase their environmentally friendly products, technology and services. There will be activities for children and adults including the making of an ark to exhibit afterwards as part of Operation Noah, an international campaign to promote awareness of climate change.
Mrs Goodman will also hold a debate about government policy and local strategies to promote greener living.
"The current economic climate is tough but it is important that we do not lose the momentum behind our push for a sustainable future, said Mrs Goodman.
"Climate change still represents one of the biggest challenges that the next generation will face."
The event will be opened with a performance by the local theatre group Turrets; there will be music and food.
Mrs Goodman set up the local climate change group in 2008 which has worked together to organise this event.
The event will be held at Barnard Castle Methodist Church from 11am to 3pm.
