POLICE in Middlesbrough have been given new kit to help fight crime and anti-social behaviour.
Erimus Housing residents have agreed to spend money on high powered torches and Euro Profile lock snappers in a bid to combat problems.
Each of the company’s five area housing forums has a pot of money to spend on schemes voted for by residents that will make a difference in their communities.
Now people living in Coulby Newham, Hemlington, Whinney Banks and Grove Hill will benefit from the new equipment.
The Euro Profile lock snappers will help prevent damage to Erimus Housing properties when police need to gain entry when executing a warrant.
Officers are now able to attach a torch to the outside of their uniform and the equipment will increase their searching abilities at night.
