AN RAF base in the region was the venue for the draw for fifth round of rugby league’s challenge cup.
RAF Leeming, in North Yorkshire, hosted the draw, which was made by Air Vice Marshal and director of the RAF sports board Chris Davidson, who drew the home teams, while former Great Britain and Leeds Rhinos star Barrie McDermott drew the home teams.
The draw was presided over by well known Rugby League personality Andrew Whitelam.
Group Captain Dean Andrew, chairman of RAF Rugby League and combined services rugby team, said: "It’s appropriate for the draw to be held at RAF Leeming, the home of the Hawk aircraft and the joint services training unit.
"The combined services had their own cup success last year when Great Britain won the World Cup in Australia, so it’s fitting that RAF Leeming host the draw for the fifth Round of the prestigious challenge cup."
