JAYNE and Allan Hancock are enjoying making the most of their new rural lifestyle in North Yorkshire after having relocated from Shipley near Bradford.

The couple and their one-year-old son, Thomas, recently moved into a new home on George Wimpey’s Mill Gardens development in Thirsk “We’d always dreamed of raising Thomas in the countryside,” said 36-year-old Jayne, “so when a new job came up for Allan in North Yorkshire, we decided to take the plunge.”

The couple paid £250 to reserve their new home then opted to use George Wimpey’s Easymover scheme whereby the housebuilder organised the sale of their existing property.

“The scheme was fantastic,” said Jayne. “It made everything very simple. We just had to pay £250 to the solicitor and George Wimpey appointed an estate agent, paid our stamp duty and organised and paid for the complete home removal service.

“Our house went up for sale just as the market started to take a dive but, luckily, we had two viewings straightaway, and both were both interested so everything went smoothly.”

The couple is pleased with their new home at Mill Gardens. “Our last two houses were built in the 1960s so we spent most of our time doing them up. It’s so nice to move into a newly- finished house without any DIY to do – and dust to get everywhere. It means we get to spend more quality time together as a family,” said Jayne.

The Hancocks’ new North Yorkshire home is a four-bedroom Skipton house with integral garage. “It’s a three-storey house so it means we have oodles of space,” said Jayne. “On the ground floor we’ve got a lovely-sized kitchen diner. We recently had 13 people over to celebrate Thomas’ first birthday and there was still plenty of space!”

On the first floor the family has a living room, bathroom and spare double bedroom, while the second floor is home to a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, Thomas’ bedroom and a spare bedroom/office.

“We’ve found that people here are incredibly friendly,” said Jayne, “and everything we need is on our doorstep, so we rarely need to use the car.

“We have a lovely park opposite and often walk along the river into Thirsk. There’s also a good bus service into Northallerton and Ripon, and a train station about a mile away.”

For further information about the development please call into the sales office on Northallerton Road in Norby, which is open seven days a week from 10am to 5.30pm.
