POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a lone male was assaulted by a group of men between Shildon and Eldon.
The unnamed 25-year-old victim was attacked by up to eight men at Eldon Bank Top at around 9pm on Friday, April 3.
The man, believed to be from the Eldon area, was walking home after visiting several pubs in Shildon.
He required hospital treatment for wounds to his head and hands.
Police believe his attackers may have followed him.
