New parking facilities at the Angel of the North have now been completed ensuring that the landmark is ready for the tourist summer season.

A scheme was approved by councillors last year to provide parking facilities for the tens of thousands of people who visit the Angel of the North.

The popularity of the Angel has never been higher and the new parking facilities will enable more tourists to get close to the North East’s most famous landmark.

The 10th anniversary celebrations last year highlighted just how important the sculpture is to the local community and as a major visitor attraction. Councillor Linda Green, cabinet member for culture at Gateshead Council, says: “These new visitor facilities will help make a visit to the Angel of the North an even better experience.
