THEY are not the type of eggs normally associated with Easter - but their proud new owners couldn’t be happier.
For the newest arrivals at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough are five turtle eggs which are now being lovingly cared for.
They were laid at the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham and carefully transported to the East Coast to be cared for in their turtle sanctuary.
"It’s a really exciting time for the animal care team here and hopefully we will get to watch them hatch and grow," said aquarist Amy McFarlane.
The eggs have been placed in a special temperature-controlled incubator to maximise the chance of survival.
"We will monitor the eggs regularly throughout the day to make sure they are warm enough," said Amy.
The turtle sanctuary opened in February and has also already proved to be a huge success with the visitors.
"Our new resident turtles have been really popular with children and adults alike and now with some eggs to see at the centre, their experience will be that bit more special," said marketing co-ordinator Michaela Bowness.
