A MAJOR £30m scheme to convert Raithwaite Hall into a five star luxury hotel is in line to be approved by planners.
The plans seek to convert the hall, at Sandsend, near Whitby, into a 42-bedroomed hotel with a spa complex.
Raithwaite Hall is the former Georgian residence of the Pyman ship building family and later that of the Headlam family of the Headlam Steamship Company.
The site, just within the North York Moors National Park, is a mile north of Whitby town centre and it was bought for £4.7m recently by the Skelwith Group.
At present there are no objections to the proposals which, if approved, are set to create 100 jobs for locals.
The national park’s planning committee has been given a recommendation to approve the scheme at its meeting on Thursday, April 16.
