MOTORCYCLING airmen have been spreading a little happiness in the run up to Easter.

They have just presented £1,000 to their station commander’s charity - and delivered armfuls of Easter eggs to children at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

The RAF Leeming Motorcycle Club has been running since 2003 and was started by Sergeant Al Waring.

The Easter Egg Run to the hospital started the following year and is now an annual event looked forward to by both the club and the young patients and staff.

The £1,000 for charity was mainly raised during a successful Airfield Riding Day held at the base near Bedale last summer.

The station commander, Group Captain Bill Gibson, said a big thank you to the Club and guaranteed that the funds will go to a worthwhile cause.

He also thanked the club for their ongoing charitable efforts within the local community and for maintaining the strong relationships forged with the Friarage Hospital.
