COMMUNITY groups in Teesdale have joined forces to improve adult education in the area.

The Teesdale Local Learning Partnership is made up of representatives from Teesdale Training, Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Service (Utass), Leap, Extended Services, Teesdale Village Halls Consortium and Education in the Community.

The group will work together to plan learning provision and pool resources in order to provide a range of learning opportunities.

The group held two open days earlier this month to see what adults in the area wanted to learn about.

"These were hugely successful, being attended by over 150 people from across the dale," said Helen Thistlethwaite, from Teesdale Village Hall Consortium.

"Peoples interests ranged from recreational courses such as dress making to more practical courses such as IT, office return to work skills, lambing and stone walling."

Many of the courses advertised will commence after Easter, with others planned later in the year. Anyone with any inquiries or suggestions should call Elaine Laurie on 01833-696616.
