A SPECIAL walk designed for people not used to regular strolls sets off next week.

The Hambleton Strollers organises 17 guided walks across the district every month - but organisers say it is often hard for first time walkers to come along.

So a special session designed for first timers sets off from Northallerton’s tourist information centre on Friday, April 17, at 10.30am.

The Strollers is part of the national Walking the Way to Health initiative which sees 50 volunteers trained to plan and lead walks from six locations in the district. All walks are along level easy footpaths and last an hour.

The scheme is led by Age Concern with support from district and county councils, leisure centres, North York Moors Authority, Friarage Hospital, health and walking bodies.

To take part in the April 17 walk gather at the TIC from 10.15am. For more information call Age Concern on 01609-771624.
