SHOPPERS in Barnard Castle are hopping at the chance to win a special Easter competition.

The Barney Guild has launched an Easter raffle with a grand prize of a giant Chocolate Easter bunny.

Shoppers in participating retailers in Barnard Castle will be given a free raffle ticket which will be entered into a prize draw when they spend over 5 or more.

"We are urging shoppers to get into town and start spending," said Barney Guild Chairman Douglas Palarm.

"Its a great way to celebrate Easter and cheer everyone up.

"All the participating retailers have contributed financially to make the Easter Raffle possible and they see it as a way to say thank you to their customers who shop in the town and support the local retailers."

The competition runs until Tuesday and the winning raffle ticket will be announced by Barnard Castle Vision Project Officer Annalisa Ward on the lunchtime show with Katey Wallace on Radio Teesdale on April 16.

Participating retailers will be displaying posters of the grand prize draw and a list of retailers can be found on the guilds website at barneyguild.co.uk.
