DETECTIVES are today appealing for help to find a 52-year-old man who has been missing from home for more than a week.

Timothy Jude Trew, also known as Pete, who lives in York, was reported missing by his family on Friday April 3, but has not been seen since Sunday, March 29.

Inspector Dave Kirby, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Despite extensive inquiries, we have been unable to trace Timothy and are now asking the public for their help to find him.

"We believe he may have travelled to the Cumbria area in his vehicle - a white Vauxhall combo van, registration number DY55HTL, and are appealing for anyone who might have seen him or his vehicle since March 29 to get in touch.

"We know he enjoys the outdoors and has a love of boats and steam trains, and appeal to anyone may have seen a man matching Timothy's description, or his vehicle to get in touch.

"Or better still, if Timothy reads this appeal, please get in touch with friends, family or police and let us know that you are safe."

Mr Trew is described as white, 5ft 9in, of stocky build with green eyes, grey collar-length hair and a goatie-style beard.

He was last seen in York at about 1pm on March 29.

Police are concerned for his welfare due to the length of time he has been out of contact and because he has a medical condition which requires regular medication.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0845-60-60-24-7.
