BREAST cancer patients are to benefit thanks to the big-hearted efforts of a hairdressing salon.
Staff from Upperkutz on Northallerton’s High Street held a "be a breast friend day" for their clients, family and friends.
And they succeeded in raising £1,485 to help to help patients at the Scott Suite, the breast care department at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
Salon owner Beverley Morris, said: "We were delighted to help such a worthy cause and one that has touched us all, our family, friends and lots of people we all know.
"We thoroughly enjoyed the event - even though it was hard work - and hopefully it will be the first of many to come."
Judith Curtis, specialist nurse in breast care, added: "The generosity of local people and the support we receive from them never ceases to amaze me.
"We would like to say a big thank you to the ladies from Upperkutz for this generous donation."
