CANNABIS with an estimated street value of £20,000 has been seized during a raid on a private home.
Police executed a search warrant at a house on Barnard Avenue, in Ludworth, near Durham, at about 6.30pm on Saturday, April 4.
Officers found 20 mature cannabis plants with full irrigation and lighting systems in an upstairs bedroom. Four mother plants were found in a cupboard.
Inspector Colin Williamson, neighbourhood inspector for Durham, said the raid was carried out by officers from the neighbourhood policing team, acting on intelligence gained in the community.
Two people, a 40-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of producing cannabis.
Both have been bailed pending further examination of the drugs seized.
