SOME of Britain’s top sportsmen and women will be shooting hoops in Spennymoor this week.
The British Universities and Colleges Home Nations Basketball Tournament will be held at Spennymoor Leisure Centre from Tuesday to Thursday this week.
The event is co-hosted by Durham University and Durham Basketball Club and follows the success of last year’s international between England Universities and Scotland Men’s Senior Team.
Dave Elderkin, from Durham Basketball Club, said: "We are delighted to be involved with this tournament as part of our basketball development programme for Durham, and it is a great opportunity to see basketball being played at a high level."
More than 150 male and female players and officials will descend on Spennymoor for the competition and the university will provide accommodation at its halls of residence.
