A TEENAGER who lost her mother to cancer is to join a sponsored walk in her memory.
Rachel Tait, 17, will tackle the 10km Midnight Walk for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham City, where her mother, Elaine, spent her final days in February last year, following a three-year battle with cancer.
It will be the second year Rachel has taken part in the annual walk, which has raised a total of £110,000 for the hospice since the first trek in 2007.
Rachel, who raised £1,595.72 last year, said: “I will always remember how helpful and supportive everyone was at St Cuthbert’s and how good their services were at a time when we needed them most.”
The walk takes place in Aykley Heads, Durham, on Saturday, June 20. Registration costs £10. For more information, call Lucy Baxter on 0191-386-1170.
