A DINNER lady is dishing up her final meal after 23 years service.
A loyal member of staff is retiring from Sunderland City Council's school meal service, having worked there for 23 years.
Christine Lonsdale who has been catering supervisor at Hetton Lyons Primary School, in Hetton-le-Hole, will dish up her final school dinner tomorrow, before attending a farewell presentation from fellow staff at Sunderland City Council.
Ms Lonsdale said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for school meals and will be sad to go.
"I have been here long enough to see the constant improvement in the service, it's so different from when I was at school.
"The changes are really positive and I hope the service continues to grow."
Ms Lonsdale started her career 23 years ago as a general assistant at Hetton Lyons Primary School.
She has stayed at the same school ever since, working her way up to her current role which she has now worked in for seven years.
Dawn Baker, area supervisor, said: "Christine has been an absolute pleasure to work with.
"Her commitment to the service is evident in the 23 years she has spent here at Hetton Lyons Primary School. We wish her a happy and relaxed retirement."
