THE Navy's latest weapon in the war on terror has been undergoing sea trials off the North coast.
Two of the high speed craft, as yet unnamned, has been spotted in the region after undergoing sea trials.
A four man crew have been putting the fast patrol boat through its paces.
And, with a special radar absorbing hull and stealth design, the craft is expected to be the favoured fast attack boat for the Special Boat Squadron.
Examples were first spotted in Poole, Dorset, last year, close to the SBS's home base.
Observers say the sleek craft can reach speeds of around 70 mph and barely leaves any wake.
Designed and built by VT Halmatic it is thought to be a replacement for two of the SBS's current tubs, the VSV (Very Slim Vessel) and an interceptor craft.
This is believed to be the first time the vessels have been spotted this far from home.
