The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in place for Darlington covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
This warning, which is for rain and wind, affects the entire North East and the rest of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The Met Office has said that a deep low may cross England and Wales from Friday afternoon, and clear to the east on Saturday night, which could bring a period of strong winds to much of the warning area, with some heavy rain likely to the north and west.
Around 15-25 mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely, particularly across central, northern, and western parts of England and Wales, with exposed higher ground in the north and west, such as Wales, where there is the greatest risk of flooding impacts, perhaps seeing closer to 50-70 mm.
Winds could gust to around 40-50 mph inland, but locally could gust in excess of 60 mph, whilst around coasts, winds may gust to 60-70 mph.
This wind and rain may cause disruption to travel, with difficult driving conditions likely.

The Met Office warns that there is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air, and ferry services are affected, as well as the chance of damage to buildings, such as tiles being blown from roofs.
There is also a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
The Met Office has advised people to prepare to protect their property and people from injury, check for loose items outside their home, and plan how they could secure them.
They also said that people should give themselves the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending their travel plans if necessary.
People are also advised to gather torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other essential items in case of power cuts.
