Plans to convert a house into an HMO in Darlington have been submitted to the council.

The application, submitted on Monday, November 25, seeks approval to change the use of a house on Eastbourne Road from a normal dwelling to a House in Multiple Occupation.

If approved, the property would undergo extensions, including a single-storey rear addition to provide a shared lounge area.

The application comes from Mr and Mrs Van Der Merwe and Dream Property Investments Ltd.

Proposed modifications for the building which covers an area of 95.7 square metres, are to expand the internal space to 102.5 square metres.

Intended changes also involve replacing existing windows and doors with white uPVC, and the current slate roof being switched to a flat rubber roof system.

The site is not in a flood-risk zone, and the planned extension area, affecting a concrete-finished rear yard, is exempt from biodiversity net gain considerations.

No new vehicle or pedestrian access is proposed, and existing parking arrangements are to remain unchanged.

The application, submitted by agent Pamela McCormick, was validated by Darlington Borough Council on Monday and is now currently pending consideration.

It is available to view on the planning portal of Darlington council's website where any comments can be submitted by the public.
