As we move into December and we get closer to Christmas, many will be asking: Will Darlington or Durham see any more snow this December?
The North East was hit with snow late this month after Storm Bert brought heavy snowfall and chaos to the region.
Pictures showed snowmen popping up across the area, with many areas seeing several inches of the white stuff.
However, are we expecting any more snow this December and if so when?
Will it snow this week?
Despite colder temperatures and unsettled conditions, it doesn’t look (as of yet) like snow will be on the cards this week.
The Met Office has said that while it remains breezy, it will feel milder than of late tomorrow.
With clouds increasing into the evening, it’s like there will be a heavy downpour of rain with a maximum temperature of 7c.
Looking forward to the weekend, Met Office has said it will be mostly dry and cloudy with sunny spells and bands of blustery showers on Sunday.
However, there is a risk of the showers turning wintry and then clearing later on Monday.
What about before Christmas?
The weather service has warned of wintry showers across Northern Scotland, however, it’s doubtful it will reach the North East.
Any wet and windy weather will ease to make way for drier and more settled weather for all.
Low pressure systems are then expected to resume moving in which could result in more wet and windy weather in northern areas.
But temperatures are expected to be above average for most places between Monday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 11.
Looking closer towards Christmas between Thursday, December 12 and Thursday, December 26.
There are signs that the weather will become less settled bringing wetter and winder conditions with a risk of some snow, especially across northern Hills.
But the forecaster added: “These conditions may prevail into late December, although drier, more settled spells may also affect the UK at times, again these are probably more likely towards the south.
“Temperatures generally close to average through the period, or slightly above in areas which are wet and windy.”
So despite some risk of wintery showers, snow is looking unlikely this December.
