A North Yorkshire sci-fi convention has announced a star of Doctor Who as its first celebrity guest at its 2025 event.
Sci-Fi Scarborough revealed that Katy Manning, who played Jo Grant, one of the most well-loved companions of the classic Doctor Who era, will be attending the event.
The convention organisers said: "Our first guest is one of the most iconic companions of the classic Doctor Who era.
"It’s none other than Jo Grant herself, Katy Manning."
Katy Manning has been acting, writing, and directing for 55 years and began her career in TV with roles in Softly Softly, Serendipity, Armchair Theatre, and Target.
Her theatre career has spanned three countries, from London's West End to the Sydney Opera House, New York, and Los Angeles.
She is most famous for her role as the loyal companion Jo Grant, who appeared in three seasons of the third Doctor era and her character was a firm favourite with fans and fellow actors.

Sci-Fi Scarborough organisers said: "What fan can forget the heartbreaking image of the Doctor driving away in his classic car, Bessie, after wishing his best friend goodbye."
Katy returned to the show many years later and featured in the Sarah-Jane Adventures.
She has also performed alongside Matt Smith and the late Elisabeth Sladen and was seen briefly in the final episode of Jodie Whittaker’s tenure as the Doctor.
Katy has always kept her hand in the Whoniverse with a number of Big Finish audio dramas under her belt and is a fan favourite at conventions all over the world.
Sci-Fi Scarborough said: "We are so proud to be now bringing her to our little convention on the East Coast."
Tickets for the 2025 event, which takes place on April 26-27 2025, are now on sale on the Sci-Fi Scarborough website.
