Armed police flooded a North East street last night after receiving reports of a man brandishing a gun.
At 6.45pm last night, police were called after Stockton residents thought they spotted a man with a gun in his car.
Officers, including an armed response, were deployed, but the suspect remains at large, as the vehicle was found unoccupied. Enquiries are still ongoing to locate the man.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "At approximately 6.45pm on Tuesday, November 26, police were called to reports of a man driving a vehicle around the Stockton area while suspected of being armed with a firearm.
"Officers, including armed response, were deployed to the area to carry out a search for the driver.
"The vehicle was located unoccupied and enquiries are ongoing to locate the man. Anyone who has information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or via the website quoting reference number 225282."
