An event held at a North Yorkshire School has looked at addressing issues surrounding children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) following concerns raised by several parents.

Northallerton School and Sixth Form College hosted an Adaptive Teaching Training Course for the North Yorkshire, Hambleton, and Richmond Locality Board on Tuesday (November 26).

Featuring 24 delegates from across the region, the event saw educational heads from across the region and the Arete Trust, which the school belong to, coming together to discuss how they can better meet the needs of their pupils with SEND.

This event was seen as an opportunity to discuss how the school can engage SEND pupils from across North Yorkshire, improving their educational experience and providing a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Arete Trust said: "We truly believe that every child deserves the best learning experience possible and the event is a fantastic opportunity to work together and improve educational attainment amongst children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across our region."

This meeting came months after several parents of SEND children at Northallerton School raised concerns about the education their children were receiving.

Parents became so frustrated at the lack of action from the school that they created a Facebook page named 'The Areté Trust are failing our children'.

The meeting was also part of several others that Northallerton School have held in recent months, which has looked to collaborate with parents of SEND children.
