Festive spirit filled the air in Cockerton on Sunday as the village turned on its Christmas tree and lights.
The cast of Peter Pan at the Majestic Theatre gathered to tell crowds ‘oh yes it is’ Christmas, ahead of their show opening on December 14.
The Cockerton Prize Silver Band played Christmas songs to get the crowds excited and characters including Peter Pan and Captain Cook mesmerised little ones.
There were burgers from Alderson’s Butchers, a tombola and raffle and crafts in the library.
The Christmas tree outside the shopping parade will be illuminated for the next few weeks ahead of the big day.
It is the latest light turn-on in the region after Santa flicked the switch on Christmas in Middleton St George on Saturday (November 23) and huge crowds gathered in Darlington Market Square last week.
