Signs have gone up for a new Wendy’s fast-food restaurant in Newcastle, as the brand plans to open 400 sites across the UK.
The American chain will soon open on the Bigg Market, one of four locations currently in the works nationwide.
Boarding is up around the former KFC unit, which has stood empty for years next to club Filthy’s and diagonally opposite Greggs, with signs saying the Wendy’s restaurant is “Opening Soon”.

Planning documents submitted to Newcastle City Council earlier this year reveal the site will be open from 7am until 11pm, and create around 40 jobs, 20 of which will be full time.
It will also have seating inside for 18 people.
Wendy’s opened their first North East store in Middlesbrough in May this year at Captain Cook Square.
The American-chain has 30 branches across the UK already, and more than 6,000 across the USA.
