Storm Bert covered the North East in a thick blanket of snow yesterday morning causing crashes and delays across the region.

Heavy snow came down throughout the morning with some readers sending in beautiful pictures near where they lived.

During the morning there were countless crashes with the Durham Police roads team putting out a post saying they were dealing with collisions everywhere.

The main roads of the region had major incidents or were blocked by stalled vehicles.

Nearly 27,000 people in North Yorkshire and County Durham were left without power after a major power line went down.

Here are some of the best pictures that were sent in by readers during Storm Bert:

Looking at the week ahead there will not be more snow for a while.

Temperatures will be fluctuating from -1C all the way up to 9C in the coming days with sun and cloud predicted.
