Budget airline Easyjet has announced a new route from Newcastle Airport to the holiday hotspot of Malaga.

The airline, known for its bright orange and white planes, has announced the route to the Spanish sunshine resort taking off from March 31.

It will run twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, with tickets starting from £34.99.

Ali Gayward from Easyjet said: “A new service from Newcastle is always great news so we are sure our flights to Malaga, with more package holidays and even more things to do in this growing destination, will go down a treat on Tyneside and among our North East customers.

“Easyjet is always looking to add more great value connectivity for our customers in the North of England and provide even more choice, whether they are booking their next beach or city break or travelling for business. We look forward to welcoming more customers onboard from Newcastle for next summer.”

It comes after the airline relaunched routes from Newcastle Airport with flights to Amsterdam and Alicante, and has since announced routes to Palma, Alicante, Paris and more.

Easyjet becomes the latest airline alongside Jet2, TUI and Ryanair.

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “It's fantastic to see easyJet further investing at Newcastle Airport with this announcement.
