The North East will see the back of disruption brought by Storm Bert on Sunday with brighter and dried conditions forecast ahead.
Weather warnings in place for the region have ended with conditions set to improve after a day of travel chaos brought by the second named storm of the season.
According to the Met Office it will be wet and windy overnight on Saturday (November 23), with brighter conditions but remaining windy on Sunday (November 24).
There will be some outbreaks of rain, sometimes heavy, clearing through the morning, with the brighter and largely dry conditions following but staying windy at times. Meanwhile temperatures will be near average with highs of 10C.
Going into Monday and Tuesday there will be sunny spells and isolated showers, with the wind easing through Monday. By Wednesday rain and possibly strong winds may arrive, while temperatures will be close to or slightly below average.
Storm Bert brought snow across the region for many on Saturday with cars and buses getting stuck on slippy roads.
Flights were disrupted with Newcastle Airport temporarily closed to planes taking off or landing in the morning.
Earlier road closures across the region are easing with the A66 from Scotch Corner across the Pennines reopening to traffic shortly before 4pm, having been closed from late on Friday (November 23) evening.
Tens of thousands of homes are without power across the UK and two men have died in road collisions. Hampshire Police said a man died after a tree fell onto a car on the A34 southbound near Winchester on Saturday morning. Meanwhile in West Yorkshire, a 34-year-old man from Bradford was killed after a car collided with a wall in Shipley.
Parts of the South West of England will continue to see stormy conditions throughout Sunday.
