Do you have a dog shaped hole in your heart and long for a new best friend? Here are just a few pups from Darlington looking for forever home.

This week, four dogs at Dogs Trust Darlington looking for a slice of the quiet life have been highlighted as the trust hopes to find their "perfect matches".

Alex Hennessey, Manager at Dogs Trust Darlington said: "It’s not just humans who want to escape to the country; lots of our fantastic dogs are seeking new homes in rural areas.

"We currently have 14 dogs that would all hugely benefit from being rehomed in quiet locations away from neighbouring dogs.

"Many potential adopters are looking for a dog that can cope with being walked in public parks, going to doggy day care and are comfortable around other people and dogs, but for some of our dogs, this busy life is not for them.

"Instead, they require regular routines and a much quieter life with minimum interaction with strangers, which includes being exercised in areas that are largely free from other dogs.

"We hope by highlighting some of our amazing dogs looking for the quiet life, we can find them their perfect matches."

Here are just four dogs looking for new homes - can you offer them a new life?

Bailey

Two-year-old Lurcher Bailey is described as a "sweet girl" who does lack a little in confidence.

Despite being on the shy side, it's said that her playful side makes an appearance soon enough when you make friends with her.

Della

Della the American Bulldog has "bags of personality" and enjoys walking in quieter areas where she can explore.

She needs to be walked "without disturbance" - away from lots of other people and dogs.

Val

Belgian Shepherd Malinois Val is two years old.

She has a "sweet and affectionate" nature come to the fore when she knows you but strangers can worry her.

She loves playing with toys and is never happier than when she's on a walk.
