The AGLOW Christmas light show in Bishop Auckland is now open to the public - and it is spectacular. Olivia Howlett visited the light trail the night before it opened with exclusive access and this is what she thought.

The dazzling light trail really illuminates the sky even though it was only 4.30pm when I arrived in Bishop Auckland.

Featuring 22 unique light attractions, the trail offers an unforgettable journey through what I can only describe as an illuminated wonderland.

One of the event's standout features is the longest tunnel in the UK, definitely a magical highlight of my experience. I can only imagine the amazing photos people can get of themselves in this tunnel.

But let me tell you, AGLOW is so much more.

It is a full on experience from starting at the Robinson Arch and finishing at the Mirrorball trees I couldn't put my camera down as everything was so beautiful.

Along the trail there is one of the largest Christmas trees in the North of England. It is so massive you'll find yourself craning your neck just to catch a glimpse at the top.

Every step of the walk is surrounded by mesmerising lights, so the distance - although it took me nearly an hour - doesn't feel that long at all.

The crumble stand, in particular, caught my eye and is a must-try for my next visit!

The event is open from now until Sunday, December 31 with entry times from 4.30pm to 8pm, but you don't need to leave the trail until 10pm.

The AGLOW event is closed Mondays and Tuesdays until December 16 and closed on Christmas day too.

I would certainly recommend this to anyone, but if you do plan on visiting, be sure to dress warmly - it gets very chilly once the sun sets.
