A man has been fined after a traffic camera on the A1(M) County Durham recorded them driving at a speed above the 70mph limit.
Anthony Da Silva, 35, of 42 The Close, Dunmow, Essex, was fined after being caught driving over the 70mph motorway speed limit on the A1(M).
The incident was heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

The court was informed that on May 16, 2024, Da Silva was driving his MG on the A1(M) between Junction 61 (Bowburn) and Junction 60 (Bradbury Police Ramp) at a speed exceeding the 70mph limit.

The offence was recorded by manned equipment, and Da Silva pleaded guilty under the Single Justice Procedure.
Da Silva was ordered to pay:
- A fine of £243
- A victim surcharge of £97
- Court costs of £90
The total financial penalty amounted to £430, to be paid by December 11, 2024. A collection order was issued to enforce the payment.
Additionally, Da Silva's driving record was endorsed with three penalty points. The court acknowledged his guilty plea, which was taken into account when determining the sentence.
