A person has been taken to hospital after an incident in Bishop Auckland. 

Paramedics, including an air ambulance, were called to the Tindale area of the town on Tuesday (November 19) after reports of a fall. 

Several ambulance crews were sent to the scene, with the Great North Air Ambulance Service sending an aircraft with a doctor and paramedic on board. 

One person was taken to the Darlington Memorial Hospital by a NEAS road crew. Their condition is not currently known.

The air ambulance service said: "Our team were activated at 11.06am on Tuesday (November 19) to reports of a fall in the Tindale area. 

"We had a doctor and a paramedic on board the aircraft and we arrived at the scene at 11.16am.

"Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient. 

"The patient was then taken to hospital by the NEAS road crew."

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.18am this morning to reports of a person injured in the Tindale area of Bishop Auckland.

"We dispatched an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader, and requested the support of our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) who attended by air.

"We transported one patient by road to Darlington Memorial hospital for further treatment."
