The Met Office is forecasting plummeting temperatures for Darlington on Tuesday, as the country faces "the first taste of winter."
The hour-by-hour weather forecast for Tuesday, November 19, reveals temperatures as low as 0°C, feeling like -5°C, with a 30 to 70 per cent chance of precipitation throughout the early hours.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly during the day, reaching a peak of 4°C at 1pm, but are expected to drop back to 0°C by 9pm.
A yellow warning for snow and ice is currently in place until 11am on Tuesday, with the Met Office warning that "a spell of snow may cause disruptions during Monday night and Tuesday morning."
The warning continues: "Potential impacts include travel delays, possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel, and a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
"Some rural communities could become cut off, and power cuts may occur, affecting other services such as mobile phone coverage."
The forecast for Tuesday comes after a yellow warning for snow and ice was issued for the North East, including Darlington, on Monday, November 18.
This warning remains in place until 11am on Tuesday.
