Cockerton Labour Councillor Neil Johnson said: "Today’s closure is a great example of a community and statutory agencies working together.

"The Housing Enforcement Team, Cockerton Police and members of the public have all come together with Cockerton Councillors to confront anti-social behaviour and reclaim our community.

"The anti-social behaviour in this case had blighted the lives of the other residents of the building, brought petty crime to the local shops and drugs into a building next to a primary school.

"We have tackled the anti-social behaviour head-on – and sent out a message to the wider Cockerton Community that residents safety and welfare is always our priority.

"We have also sent out a message to others – anti-social behaviour in Cockerton or anywhere else in Darlington will not be tolerated.

"Cockerton is a much safer place today because the community came together!!"

If you are suffering anti-social behaviour, including drug dealing, in your community, please don't suffer in silence."
