A house fire in Easington Lane near Sunderland has caused a road closure whilst investigations continue.

The Emergency services attended a property in the Bradley Terrace area of Easington Lane just after midday today, November 15. 

Bradley Terrace is currently closed to traffic as a police cordon remains up whilst the enquiries are ongoing.

A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We can confirm that earlier today [Friday 15th November] crews from Farringdon, Sunderland Central, Rainton Bridge, Marley Park, Washington, South Shields and Gateshead Community Fire Stations attended a house fire in Easington Lane, Houghton.

"An emergency call was received by our Control Room at 11.58 am, and the first appliance was in attendance within seven minutes. 

"The incident is currently on-going and we are working alongside our blue light partners, the Police and the Ambulance Service at the scene.”

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just after midday today (Friday), we received a call via the fire service of a fire at an address in the Bradley Terrace area of Easington Lane.

“Emergency services are in attendance, with Bradley Terrace currently closed to traffic.

“A police cordon is also in place while enquiries are ongoing.”

 A spokesperson for North East Ambulance service said: "We were called to a house fire on Easington Lane, Houghton le Spring at 12:01 this afternoon.

We dispatched two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team, a duty officer and a double crewed ambulance. "
