Plans to convert a County Durham chemist into flats have been submitted to the council.
The proposed development at 1 Durham Road, Ferryhill, includes transforming the two upper floors of the building into a two-bedroom flat, while maintaining the ground floor for commercial use.
Upper floors of the building were previously used for office, storage, and kitchen areas.
Submitted by TMTH Ltd and represented by Sir William Gray of William Gray Associates Ltd, the project involves no significant changes to the building's exterior, except for replacing existing timber doors with timber doors with glazing in the rear yard.
Planning application forms state that there will be no impact on biodiversity, and no flood risks have been identified. The site is not within 20 metres of a watercourse.
Pedestrian access to the proposed flat will be via an alleyway with existing foot access rights.

The planning application outlines that foul sewage disposal will connect to the mains sewer, with no significant alteration to the existing drainage infrastructure.
Surface water disposal will be managed by sustainable drainage methods, in line with standard planning requirements.
The plans include dedicated bin storage in the rear yard for both general waste and recyclable waste.
Proposed interior modifications include upgrading the existing ground-floor ceiling with fire barriers and soundproofing materials, to improve fire resistance and noise control.
A new partition will be created at the rear of the ground floor for cycle storage, accommodating up to two bicycles.
Fire safety enhancements include the addition of an Envirograf fire barrier and a sprinkler system, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
A fire door will also be installed at the base of the staircase leading to the upper floors.
The site does not provide any on-site parking spaces, but the application highlights its central location near Ferryhill's Market Place, benefiting from multiple public transportation links to surrounding areas.
A public parking lot is located approximately a five-minute walk from the property.
